The Monthly Meow: VitalEssentials Freeze Dried Rabbit Treats

Welcome back to our next installment of The Monthly Meow, Halloween edition! So obviously, I have to share a few throwback photos of some of my favorite Halloween moments with my favorite black cat.

This October, we had the opportunity to try out the VitalEssentials VitalCat Freeze Dried Rabbit Treats!

If you’ve been a fan of this little series, you’ll know that my favorite treats to feed Daechir are natural, grain free snacks. And these might be a new favorite.

As you can see, the ingredients are just rabbit meat and organs. I love how the back of the packaging really gives you all the information you would want and need about the product, even detailing the process of how they freeze dry the products.

These retail for $4.49 on, making it the most affordable place to purchase these.

vital cat nibbles.jpg

From an owner’s standpoint, these are the BEST freeze dried treats I’ve ever come across. I’ve had issues with other brand’s being very flaky and falling apart before I even get a chance to give them to Daechir. These are much more solid, and completely keep their shape, while still being easy for cats and kittens to eat. I would even feel comfortable traveling with these, because they’re completely mess free.

I also really appreciate how you can actually see the difference between the meat and the organ meat in the treats. I can’t get over how wonderfully simple these are, and they are exactly what I look for in a treat.

The best thing about these treats? Daechir the Pumpkin Queen totally approves.

I haven’t seen her get this excited over new treats in a really long time. She is incredibly picky, but she really enjoys these.

The texture is crunchy, while still being comfortable to eat, and she LOVES the rabbit flavor. I haven’t really given her much that’s been rabbit flavored, but I think I should start, because she really seems to like it.

This is probably the first time I can say that I really don’t have a single con with this product. It’s user friendly, an Daechir can’t get enough. This is the perfect treat, and if I don’t buy a replacement bag, Daechir might not love me anymore, and who could blame her?

To sum it all up, these are awesome treats. Great quality for a great price point, and I really couldn’t be happier with these. Big thumbs up from me, and I think I need to explore the VitalEssentials line a little more!

Last but not least, tiny photo of Daechir in her hot dog costume from a few years ago. I know, she is really enjoying it. But don’t worry, she was only willing to wear it long enough for a photo anyways.

And with that, we end today’s post. I hope you’ve enjoyed it, and please sign up for email notifications for future posts to see more like this!

As always,

thanks for stopping by!

Growing Up With Chewy: Blue Buffalo Boo Bars (Health Bars)

Welcome back to Growing Up With Chewy!

If you’re new here, this is where we talk about a puppy product, and have a peek at how ours are growing up.

the puppers.jpg

If you can’t tell, these little guys have grown A LOT since last month. Saoirse (on the left) is now weighing in at 27 lbs and Jefferson is a whopping 33 lbs. They’re three months old now, and have more energy than I even thought possible.

These guys worked tirelessly to bring you a review today on the Blue Buffalo Boo Bars. As I’m trying to link this product to Chewy’s website, I can’t find the limited edition packaging, so I’m assuming it’s sold out. However, these are a permanent product, under the Blue Buffalo Health Bars Pumpkin & Cinnamon title instead. So fear not, you can still get your hands on these, they just won’t be Halloween themed.

If you’re familiar with Blue Buffalo, you know that they always put wonderful ingredients in their products, no matter what. I’m never afraid to give my pets anything that comes from BB, as I know it’ll be great quality, and great for them. These were no exception.

boo bars back.jpg (As you can see, these have the same ingredients as the Pumpkin & Cinnamon Health Bars)

These are on sale for only $4.99 on! Everywhere else, these can go for almost $9.

The key benefits to these treats are: (copied from

  • Oven-baked for a mouth-watering taste of pumpkin & cinnamon, and a crunch that can be heard from across the room. Made with wholesome grains, fruits and veggies
  • Blue Health Bars are jam-packed with omegas and antioxidants for a healthy skin and coat and strong immune system
  • No chicken/poultry by-product meals, just real ingredients
  • No corn, wheat or soy, so it’s great for pups with food allergies
  • No artificial preservatives, colors or flavors, just natural dog treats enhanced with added vitamins

Since these were the limited edition bars, they came in adorable Halloween shapes. The permanent version is a biscuit shape with a buffalo on it. These were such a fun little way to celebrate Halloween with our puppies, and will be an awesome little snack to hand out to any furry trick-or-treaters.

Now, for what you’re all waiting for, how did Saoirse and Jefferson like them?

saoirse eating the noms.jpg

Does this answer your question? Saoirse gets some serious crazy eyes going when these things come out of the bag. They absolutely LOVE these, and I think it’s something we’ll have to repurchase for them again.

why they so cute tho.jpg (They even dropped their pig ear for these)

I mean, really. Have you ever seen puppies sit so nicely? The minute I pulled the bag out, their little rumps hit the floor, ready for some delicious snacks.

These have earned a huge thumbs up from me, and from our panel of esteemed judges! Blue Buffalo has yet again impressed me, as well as the pups. These are definitely a fun, affordable treat for your puppies, completely guilt free.

And with that, we end today’s post! I hope you’ve enjoyed it, and be sure to subscribe for email notifications of future posts like this one!

As always,

thanks for stopping by!

September 2016 Ipsy Unbagging + Review

Welcome back!

Today we’ll be talking about what I received in my September Ipsy bag. A little bit late, but better late than never!

If you’re not familiar, Ipsy is a $10/month subscription service that sends a little bag of 4 to 5 beauty products directly to your door.

September’s theme was “Glamazon” and I actually think the bag is pretty cute. Not particularly my style, but I can appreciate the design. Now, let’s dig into the bag!

The first thing I pulled out this month was the Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme.

lip injection extreme.jpg (Sample size; full size retails for $28)

This is a clear lip gloss that claims to plump your lips, hence the “lip injection” name. I know that most people tend to experience quite a bit of pain when using this product, but I had no pain at all. There is a distinct tingling sensation, but it wasn’t painful at all, and I don’t have a strong pain tolerance.

Anyways, this actually works. I’ve used it on myself and several other people, and have seen some positive results. It’s nothing crazy, but there is some plumping action happening with this. This also smells wonderful, so big thumbs up from me!

Moving on, the next product I received was the Be A Bombshell Nail Polish in “Holy Fuscia”.

be a bombshell.jpg ($6)

To sum it up, I really like this polish! The color is beautiful, especially for fall. It actually appears a little darker in person than it does in photos, which is totally fine with me. The formula was nice, it took about 2 coats for full opacity, and lasted pretty well. My only gripe with this was the funky brush. It’s cut at an angle of sorts that is not only difficult to use, it’s unnecessary. Besides the weird brush, I do like this and will continue to use it.

The only eye product I received was the Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Eyeshadow in “Teaser”.

dirty-little-secrets (Not sure of the price, I can’t find anything beyond Ipsy’s site on this)

A few months ago I received a highlighter from this same brand, and I really enjoy it. This shadow is no exception. This is very smooth to the touch and though it isn’t strongly pigmented, it doesn’t struggle with pigmentation either.

This is a beautiful warm matte brown, and works well as a companion to any shimmery shade, or by itself as a stand alone shadow look.  Ultimately, I really like this, no complaints!

The last cosmetic product I received is the Dr. G Daily Safe BB Cream.

bb cream.jpg (Sample size; full size retails for $32)

This came to me in the shade “Fair”, and it’s actually a pretty great match, which was shocking to me.

bb cream swatch.jpg

Since this is a BB cream, it isn’t meant to have very full coverage. I get a light coverage out of this, but it’s enough for me. I’ve used this  by itself, mixed with my Hard Candy pigment drops, and even as a primer and have enjoyed every use. I’m not sure I’m ready to jump right in and spend $32 on a BB cream, but this product is definitely making me think about it. Really nice BB cream, and I may purchase a full size!

And the last product I received in September’s bag was the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5 in 1 Styling Treatment.

living proof perfect hair day.jpg(Sample size; full size is $27)

Despite the very long, somewhat confusing name, this is basically a leave in conditioner. This is supposed to add volume as well as adding shine and softness.

If you have been here for any amount of time, you’d know that I typically hate every hair product Ipsy has ever sent me. But finally, we have a hit. This actually does add a lot of shine and volume to my otherwise flat hair. This is the one higher end hair product I’ve used that I am actually considering purchasing a full size of. If you’ve been debating over getting this one, I definitely recommend it.

And that’s everything I received in my September Ipsy bag! If you’ve made it this far, congratulations, you’ve been witness to something amazing and unheard of. This is the only Ipsy bag I’ve received that I have liked EVERY PRODUCT. I know, I’m as shocked as you are. I was very unhappy with my August bag, so I’m glad to see that Ipsy really stepped it up this month and sent out some great products.

And that’ll be it for today’s post! I hope you’ve enjoyed it, and if you have, be sure to sign up for email notifications of future posts.

As always,

thanks for stopping by!

Monthly Favorites- September 2o16

Welcome to Makeup In Montana! If you’re already a fan, welcome back!

Today is the day we talk about what products I have been loving throughout the month of September. Maybe it’s because I was traveling through the month, but September seriously flew right by! But that’s okay, because I’m SO READY for October! Halloween, here I come.

Enough of my rambling, let’s get into this month’s favorites!

First product I want to share with you this month is the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Hydrating Primer Mist.

hard candy primer msit.jpg                                 ($8)

Primer sprays have become incredibly popular in the last few years, since they are a faster (and more portable) alternative to traditional primers. This one is PERFECT for anyone who struggles with dry skin. I use this not only as a primer, but as my setting spray. It helps prolong the wear of my makeup, and help settle any powders for a more skin like appearance. And for only $8, you can’t beat it!

My next favorite product this month has definitely been my Elf Cosmetics Bronzer Palette in “Bronzed Beauty”.

bronzer palette.jpg ($6)

This $6 palette offers 4 different shades and tones of bronzer; two matte and two that have some luminosity to them.

What I really like about this palette is not only the versatility, but the pigmentation. Instead of being very strong in pigment, they have a softer appearance to them that makes for a much more natural looking, yet buildable bronze. All of these shades work well on my fair skin(about an NC15 in MAC)  and Elf does have another color option called “Deep Bronze” and they do seem to be very accommodating to deep skin tones.

Moving right along with the Profusion The New Trendsetter Brow Kit.

brow inside.jpg ($12.49)

I am going to be doing a full review on this and more from Profusion, but I couldn’t do this post without at least briefly mentioning this guy. I’ve been using this every single day I’ve worn makeup since I received it, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I’ve never been someone who enjoyed doing my brows, but this product has actually made it fun. Totally recommend this to everyone!

And that’s it for today’s post! I know it’s short, but I’d rather share only a few amazing products over a bunch of mediocre ones. Quality over quantity, my friends.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this, and be sure to check out these amazing products for yourself, and come back tomorrow for a makeup look done using them!

And as always,

thanks for stopping by!
