Today will be a “Worth The Hype” post, where we talk about a seriously hyped up product and find out if it’s really worth buying or not. And today, we’re tackling the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette.*
If you’re not familiar with this palette, this was a limited edition release in the spring or summer of 2016 and it totally blew up. Everyone wanted this, no one could get it. A few months pass and the majority of us stopped caring about this palette. In December of 2016, they announced a relaunch and decided to make the palette permanent, so I picked it up.
As with other Too Faced palettes in this format, it does in fact smell like peaches. Many people say it smells like the peach ring candies, I think it’s more like a fresh peach scent.
This palette retails for $49 and is available anywhere Too Faced is sold. (Ulta, Sephora, etc).
With the details out of the way, let’s take a closer look at the palette and swatches.
First things first, the box and the outer packaging is just crazy adorable. I love the peachy/orange ombre, and the little peaches on the palette.
(All shades are swatched over no primer with my finger, as usual.)
As you can see, these swatch beautifully, with the exception of “Tempting”, “Talk Derby To Me”, and “Delectable”. These were built up to show the color. All of the colors with the exception of those three are very smooth and pigmented, very on par with the quality of the Chocolate Bar Palettes.
I know what you’re thinking, for a peach palette, shouldn’t it have more peach shades? Yes, but according to Jerrod Blandino, the co-founder of Too Faced, this palette was inspired by all of the colors you may see on a peach. From the stem, to the leaves, to a bruise.
So there are the shades. I really love the color selection in here. I know a lot of people weren’t crazy about it, but I find it very wearable for everyday, with the ability to add a little color with the peach shades.
I find that you can really get a large variety of looks out of this palette, from very dark and smokey to light and fresh.
(For this look, I used Georgia as a transition, Candied Peaches in my crease, and Luscious on my lid and inner corner)
I really love this nice, natural, yet colorful look and I think I’ll be wearing it a lot in the Spring!
(For this look I used Georgia as a transition, Puree and Summer Yum in the crease, and Peach Pit all over the lid)
So, for the big question, is it worth the hype? Absolutely. I love everything about this palette from the scent to the versatility. If you love neutrals but want to add something a little special, this is definitely the palette for that. With that being said, Emilynoel83 did a wonderful video on drugstore alternatives to this palette if this is either not your cup of tea, or out of your price range.
And with that, we end today’s post! I hope this has been helpful in your decision to either purchase or avoid this palette. If you want more ‘Worth The Hype’ posts, subscribe!
